Units were
dispatched at 21:14 hours for a fall victim in the area of Pine
Grove Road and Woodrow Road in Cooke Township, inside Michaux State Forest. Units arrived at the Tumbling Run Game
Preserve parking lot to learn that the victim was
approximately one mile into the woods at the rock sculptures (Lewis Rocks).
Chief 50 established Command 26 and 2 search teams and 1 rescue team were deployed from the command
post at the parking lot. Several UTV's were also deployed from a
trailhead off of Woodrow Road. The first search team arrived at the
patient at 22:45 hours and found an unconscious person
that had fallen off of the rocks and had sustained a head injury.
Due to the difficult terrain where the patient was located, 2
helicopters from Maryland had to be called in to assist with a land
hoist rescue. Command cleared the incident at 02:40 hours. Thanks to
all of the personnel and mutual aid companies who assisted us on the
scene, and to New Kingstown Fire Company for filling in our station

SEEKING NEW
MEMBERS TO JOIN OUR COMPANY |
June 11th, 2010 |
|
| We are actively
seeking people who are interested in running emergency calls,
including firefighters, EMS personnel, and rescue workers.
There is a misconception out there that we have paid members that
run calls in our company. This is NOT TRUE. Our fire
company is a 100% VOLUNTEER Company. As our community grows, the need
for our services also increases. As a result, more and more members
are needed to help answer the calls. Please help us answer
this call for help, so that we may continue to answer our
community's calls for help. Don't have any
training? That's just fine, because we will pay for all the
training and equipment that you will need to perform your job safely.
We are also seeking people who are willing to assist with events and
fundraising activities (such as bingo and our annual fair). Anyone
from age 14 and older is welcome to join. Please help spread the
word! If interested, please contact Chief Chris Alleman at 717-226-0636
or 717-486-5488. To download a membership application, please
Please also feel free to stop by our fire company to pick up an
application or to inquire more information (we're located at
1750
Pine Road in Huntsdale, across the street from AES Hearth Place). |
